Most of my magic is done at private parties and weddings, but I also get asked to perform for larger companies, including some household names. In the past I have done magic for BP, DHL, Samsung, Oracle, esure, Loch Fyne and many others. This December the two biggest names that booked me for parties have been Waitrose and Virgin Media. Companies of this size can afford to book any magician they like, so it was a pleasure to have been chosen to provide their Christmas party entertainment. Everyone loved the magic and I lost count of how many people asked for my business card!

Last Friday I was booked to do magic for accountancy firm Shaw Gibbs. They had booked a rather unusual venue for their party - the Malmaison in Oxford. This is a luxurious hotel but has a dubious past as it used to be a prison! The layout looks just like a posh version of the prison in TV show "Porridge" and the bedrooms are converted cells behind solid imposing doors. It was an extraordinary place and the perfect setting for a wild party. It was great fun to do magic for everyone, including one rather colourfully dressed gent in a blue and white star and snowflake covered outfit (see picture below).
The next day I received a lovely email about the magic that said - "Thank you Mike, you were the star of the evening, everyone has been talking about you today" It was a great party - many thanks to Sarah and Vicky for arranging everything. Amongst the Christmas parties there are also some weddings going on and I recently had the great pleasure to do magic for Mark and Gillian's guests during their wedding reception. The weather was a bit cold and wet, but a while back I performed at a wedding in a foot of snow, so this was luxury by comparison! The magic went down really well and I even got to do a special bit of mindreading for Gillian, telling her the two random words that she was thinking of. The look on her face was a picture, but I couldn't actually take a picture of it as this was an "unplugged" wedding. These days everyone has a mobile phone and is on social media, but Mark and Gillian wanted their guests to enjoy the day in person, rather than tweet about it, so they decided that the wedding would be "unplugged" and asked that everyone kept their phone turned off throughout. It was a really good idea, but meant that my unique magical routine of telling someone the secret code number that unlocks their phone was a non-starter! All-in-all a wonderful afternoon, many congratulations to Mark and Gillian and all the best for your future together.
Friday was a special day - my first Christmas party booking of 2015. The party was being held at the Elvetham Hotel in Hartley Wintney and the place was packed! I spent a very enjoyable time mingling with the guests doing amazing things. Alongside the magic there was a themed photo booth, live music and lots of excellent food and drink. It was a pleasure to be part of it all and thank you to everyone who came along and had a great time. I'll be back at the Elvetham for more parties soon. In fact it's going to be a very busy December with 20 parties lined up over the next three weeks. Happy Christmas!
On Friday I was booked to entertain the guests at Matt and Becky's wedding. It was being held at one of my favourite venues - The Elvetham Hotel in Hartley Wintney. I've performed there many times in the past and will be back there many times over the next few weeks as I will be doing magic at all of their Christmas parties in December. It will be a very busy month!
Matt and Becky contacted me early in 2015 and asked if I could come along and do magic for their wedding guests during the afternoon drinks reception. This is the perfect time for some magic and luckily I had a gap in the diary. We confirmed all of the details and last Friday (20th November) was the big day. I had a very enjoyable time mingling with the guests doing impossible things. Lots of people have seen magic on TV but it's all the more impressive when it happens right in front of you. Many thanks to everyone for joining in with the fun and to Matt and Becky for inviting me to be part of their wedding celebrations! December is going to be a very busy month. I've been booked for a lot of Christmas parties and if you're looking for a magician there are only a few dates left. The available dates are generally Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesday - all other dates are booked solid. I've also been booked for Christmas Day and New Year's Eve (and New Year's Eve 2016 too) It's going to be a busy month!
Over the last few weeks I've been exhibiting at a lot of wedding fairs. It's a great way to demonstrate my wedding magic to couples who may be looking for some wedding entertainment. It's also a great way to meet other wedding suppliers and sometimes you come across someone who really stands out. Here are two people who I've met recently who offer something very special and both come highly recommended. JD - The Soul Machine I met JD at the Reading Hilton wedding fair. He sang a few songs during the day and the quality of his singing was undeniable. He also knows how to work the crowd and get everyone in a party mood. An excellent singer and fantastic entertainer. He's a very artistic and creative guy who has turned his hand to producing wedding stationery, but with an unusual twist! Most wedding invites are very similar - white with pink hearts and maybe a few frills around the edge - but Joby's are more like this... He can produce customised artwork for your wedding at a very reasonable price. There are lots of examples of his work on his website, take a look and I'm sure you'll be impressed.

I've already got 20 parties booked in and the only dates that are still available are Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I'm also very pleased to be back doing magic for everyone at the Coppid Beech hotel on Christmas Day itself. It's going to be a hectic month!
On Saturday I performed at three events, including the wedding of Molly and Aaron at Wokefield Park. It was a lot of fun and I spent a couple of hours entertaining and amazing guests during the reception. There were two photographers there and a videographer who I kept an eye on (I didn't want him to film the magic too closely and then use rewind, slow motion and freeze-frame to work out how I do some of it!)
Just before I had to leave the guests took their places for the wedding breakfast, Molly and Aaron made their big entrance and I had the chance to do a couple of tricks for them at the top table. Often the bride and groom miss the magic as they are busy having all of the wedding photos done, but I was keen to make sure Molly experienced some of my mind reading. There wasn't much time before the speeches so I thought I'd do something really quick and really astonishing. I asked Molly and Aaron to both think of a word. I then told them what those words were! A great note to end on and a lovely way to end my performance. Many thanks to Molly and Aaron and all the best for your future together. As a professional wedding magician I've performed at hundreds of weddings. Each one is special in its own way and it's always a great pleasure to be part of a couple's special day, especially when you receive a letter like this. Many thanks to Christine and Rob!
