I know some magicians read this blog so they will be very interested in a new DVD coming out in December. It's from Russ Steven's RSVP company and is called "More iCandy", a follow-up to the original smash hit "iCandy" DVD. This new release features magic from some of the UK's top professional magicians and I was invited to contribute one of my own signature routines called "Rover". The DVD will be out on 17th December and pre-orders are open now. If you know any magicians why not buy it for them, and if you are a magician then why not treat yourself!

Well, we are nearly into December and the party season. This is always the busiest time for a magician and my diary for the next few weeks looks extremely hectic! I will be doing magic at parties all over Southern England including a couple of days at Heathrow airport, a night at the Savoy, a show in London's West End, a couple of army parties and a huge golf club family spectacular in the heart of Berkshire.
If you would like to have a magician at your Christmas party then you have left it a bit late, but it might be possible to fit you in if you're lucky. There are still a few gaps and, even if I'm already booked, I can help by recommending another excellent magician that I know who may be available to entertain your guests, so please get in touch! There aren't many cinema films that feature magicians. A few that spring to mind are The Illusionist, The Prestige and the Mitchell and Webb comedy called, errr, Magicians. In 2013 there will be a great new film joining this list. It's called "Now You See Me" and will be released in the Summer. It looks a bit like an Oceans 11 thriller with magicians in the leading roles. Here's the trailer, see what you think... Over the last couple of days I've done magic at a 40th birthday party in London (congratulations Nuria!), a wedding in Hampshire (congratulations Mark and Cara!) and at Heathrow airport. I spent the first hour at the wedding doing special magic and balloon models for the children, they really enjoyed it and it give the adults a bit of time to relax and have some peace and quiet! I also tried out a couple of new magical routines that went down very well and will now be a regular part of my act - look out for the "Mr and Mrs test" and a plastic toy with amazing powers of deduction. When I arrived at Heathrow I noticed that they had got a few giant Pudseys for Children in Need and had put up the Christmas decorations - some more impressive than others as you can see here, the one on the right in particualr being somewhat underwhelming! Every time that I do magic at Heathrow it's fun to meet all the different people flying off all around the world. This time most were going to Aberdeen, Las Vegas, San Diego and Newcastle. I met an architect, some accountants, a group of oilmen, a couple of pilots and two cage fighters! They all loved the magic, which was good (I especially didn't want to annoy the cage fighters!)
If you know someone who is flying out from Heathrow Terminal 5 tell them to pop into Crown Rivers restaurant/bar and they may well see me in there doing magic. It's a great start to your holiday or business trip. A few years ago if you asked someone to name a magician they would probably say Paul Daniels. Then along came David Blaine with his new brand of "street magic" and a while after that the amazing Derren Brown with his psychological approach and focus on mind-reading and hypnotism. But over the last couple of years one name has eclipsed them all - Dynamo. With his brilliant "Magician Impossible" show on SKY he is, for many people, the face of modern magic. In fact two things I hear more than anything else when I'm out performing magic are "can you do X like Dynamo" and "how does Dynamo do X"? Well, as a member of The Magic Circle, I can't tell you how he does his magic, but I can certainly perform some similar routines for you. Some people think that Dynamo uses camera tricks to achieve things, but when I'm standing in front of you and make things appear, disappear and change you know it's all happening for real right there! So what's the main difference between me and Dynamo? It probably price! He, understandably, charges thousands of pounds for an hour long performance while you can get a couple of hours of Mike Stoner magic for a few hundred. If you've got a wedding, party or event coming up and would like some Dynamo-style magic then get in touch! Today I spent a few hours at the amazing Mercedes-Benz World complex at Brooklands near Weybridge. It's free to get in and you can see a huge selection of Mercedes-Benz models ranging from some of the very earliest vehicles ever made upto futuristic prototypes and Formula 1 cars. There is also a great restaurant, a cinema, one of the longest escalators you have ever seen and loads of helpful staff. It's the perfect venue for parties and corporate events and I'd gone along to sample what they had to offer. Best of all I had the chance to spend an hour driving a very nice AMG Mercedes around the test track, which includes a high-speed "handling circuit" and a skid pan. It was a lot of fun to put the car through its paces and see just what it was capable of.
If you want to treat your staff to a corporate event they will really enjoy then Mercedes-Benz World comes highly recommended! You can find out more by click here: MERCEDES-BENZ WORLD |
