This weekend I've performed magic at four different parties and weddings. The first was at the National Trust's Basildon Park - a fascinating building that is well worth a visit. However on this particular day you couldn't visit much of it as part had been set aside for David and Ruth's wedding and most of the rest was being used to film the new series of Downton Abbey! I spent the afternoon entertaining people during the wedding reception and dodging the rain showers. The photographer wanted to get shots of everyone in front of the house, but had to time it carefully to keep everyone dry!
I then drove over to New Malden for Julia's party and, as a contrast to being in a stately home, this was being held in her back garden. Luckily the weather was good and everyone was in the mood for some fun. I even had a little friendly competition with an amateur magician who was there, although after he'd said "How did you do THAT?" a few times he decided to leave the magic to me from then on. The next wedding was at the Crown Hotel in Winchester. I arrived early, had a quick coffee and then headed into Roy and Claudine's wedding reception. There was a great mixture of guests and one particular table that Roy warned me "could be a bit of a handful". I headed over to them, did a bit of magic and was then asked if I knew any hypnosis. I asked why and a lady called Jackie said that she had been hypnotised by Paul McKenna. Everyone else was a bit sceptical about this so I showed them how you can use words and the power of suggestion to make people do unexpected things. Jackie was a great subject and everyone else was amazed! Later in the weekend I headed to Beckenham to do magic at Kelly and Lee's wedding reception. There was a great party atmosphere and everyone was ready to have a good time. Alongside the magic there was some great food and drink, a DJ, a bouncy castle and plenty of karaoke! Kelly herself has an amazing voice and seeing her sing note perfect numbers in her wedding dress was something very special. There were a number of youngsters at this reception so I called on my balloon modelling skills to keep them amused. All-in-all an excellent afternoon of fun, laughter and magic. If you are planning a wedding reception and would like to add something amazing to entertain your guests then get in touch - I'm currently taking bookings for 2013, 2014 and 2015.
