I spent yesterday dashing between venues for three different magical events. Lunchtime was magic (and a few balloon animals) at Old Orleans. The afternoon was more magic (and more balloon animals) at a charity event at the Snow Goose in Farnborough. The evening was a birthday party at the Great House hotel in Sonning, mixing magic, mind-reading, a bit of hypnosis and some palm reading. Very hectic but a lot of fun.

The lovely weather that we are having at the moment shows that Summer is definitely on the way, and that means parties, BBQs and weddings galore. A bit of close-up magic can add something really special to these events and one lucky person is going to win some magic for free! I've teamed up with the Berkshire Media Group to offer a magical prize - look out for the competition in your local newspapers this week. Good luck to everyone who enters and, if you're not lucky enough to win the main prize, there is also a special offer that may be of interest. Happy reading!
On Saturday I went along to the Frimley Hall Hotel in Camberley to do some magic at Rachel and Christian's wedding reception. The weather had been up and down all day but luckily it was pleasantly sunny and warm for the reception. Frimley Hall Hotel is a fantastic venue and well worth a visit. I spent a couple of hours doing magic for the assembled guests and had some lovely reactions. It was a real pleasure to meet so many friendly people and entertain them. Many congratulations to Rachel and Christian!
On Friday I drove up to the NEC in Birmingham to see Gadget Show Live, an exhibition based on the popular TV show. I was on the lookout for unusual items to incorporate in future magical routines and found a few interesting things - all top secret! The recurring theme of the show was 3D and the gaming hall was crammed with people trying out new 3D videogames on huge screens. The only problem was, for the people watching rather than playing, the screens looked a real mess as they didn't have the necessary 3D glasses on. The NEC was very crowded, hot and noisy but there was so much going on that it was a fun day out. The stars of the TV show were doing signing sessions but as the queue was two hours long (!) I made do with a few photos - see below...
Yesterday was Mothers Day and this meant lots of special events and lunches going on. I was invited to perform some close-up magic at two of them and it made for a very enjoyable day.
First I travelled to the Blue Mountain Golf Club in Bracknell. There were over 100 guests of all ages and the mixture of card magic, coin magic and a few balloon animals went down really well. The "50p trick", which I tried out for the first time, was a big success and will definitely be featuring in my future performances. Then I jumped in the car and whizzed up the road to the Compleat Angler in Marlow. This is a superb hotel with a first class restaurant set right on the river. I didn't want to distract the diners from their excellent food so spent most of my time performing for people in the bar area. This proved a great success as the relaxed atmosphere and spectacular surroundings created a perfect setting for some feats of "Derren Brown" style mind reading. It was a real pleasure to perform magic in such an amazing hotel. Hopefully I will be returning to Blue Mountain and the Compleat Angler in the near future. Watch this space! After being on Radio 5 yesterday I'm pleased to appear in today's Sunday Telegraph. It's a small piece, but worth a read, see if you can spot it!
