Last Friday I was back at Heathrow Airport doing magic for passengers flying out from Terminal 5. This is always a lot of fun and you never know who you are going to meet. Some people were flying home to Newcastle and Glasgow, some were off to see friends in the USA and others were off on holiday to Las Vegas, South Africa and Brazil. I'll be back at Heathrow again in a couple of weeks (2nd August) and, in the meantime, here are some pics of happy travellers who have enjoyed some Mike Stoner magic...

On a weekend that the Met Office described as "the hottest of the year" and with my car temperature gauge showing 33C it would have been nice to just relax in the garden with a cool drink. However this weekend I was booked to entertain at a wedding and three parties spread across Southern England - so my time was going to be anything but relaxing! First Richard and Emma's wedding at the Casa Hotel in Yateley. Then a long drive down to Chichester Marina (slightly cooler because it's by the coast) for George and Dianne's anniversary party. Then over to Loseley Park near Guildford for Alan's celebration meal with family and friends followed by Judith's birthday party in Hatch End, North London. It was all a lot of fun but my playing cards started to wilt in the heat and my jackets will be going off to the dry cleaners very soon!
After my holiday break it was straight back into the magic last weekend. On Saturday I was at a garden party in Windsor, mingling with the guests and doing a variety of amazing things. But the most amazing thing was the temperature - it was very VERY hot! While the guests relaxed with some delicious food and cooling drinks I was hard at work keeping them all entertained and grabbing a glass of water whenever the chance arose! A lot of fun but very exhausting towards the end. Then on Sunday I was booked to do four hours of magic on a boat trip for a local company. The temperature was even higher but luckily being on a boat up the Thames meant there was a bit of a breeze and everything was much more comfortable. Four hours is a long time to be performing but everything went well and I had a lovely "thank you" from the organiser Karen the following morning. If you're planning a boat trip then make sure to have a magician onboard!
I've had a short break from magic recently thanks to a lovely holiday in Switzerland. I spent some time in Zurich, Berne and up in the mountains at Wengen. I'm now back in the UK and ready for a very busy Summer of performing magic at parties and weddings, but here are a few quick shots of my time in Switzerland, including up at the snowbound "Piz Gloria" restaurant featured in a James Bond film.
If you've never been to this beautiful country then I can highly recommend it, especially if you like cable cars, mountains and Toblerone! |
