Working as a wedding magician is always a pleasure, you get to entertain people at a very special event and share in the joy of a couple's big day. On Friday I was performing magic at the marriage of Claire and Dan at the Berystede Hotel in Ascot. Claire had arranged this as a surprise for Dan and, when I arrived, he was definitely suprised! I spent a few hours doing magic with cards, coins, rubber bands, watches and also mixed in some mind-reading, psychological influencing, palm-reading and even a few balloon animals! It was a fantastic evening and a great send-off for Claire and Dan before their honeymoon in Egypt. Congratulations and all the best for your future together!

I recently helped out at "Plough Fest", a charity event held at the Plough pub inTilehurst. I spent a couple of hours mingling with the crowd performing some close-up magic and mind-reading. On stage a steady stream of bands were playing and I particularly enjoyed The Police Academy who do amazingly accurate covers of Police songs. They even employ wigs to capture the look of the band during their 1980s heyday. The whole event was being broadcast by Hug Radio and, after chatting with their presenter Gary, I'll hopefully be appearing on air soon to chat about magic and maybe even do some mind-reading over the airwaves! Huge thanks to Bev from Dancing Stick Productions for putting the whole day together and thanks to everyone who came along and gave money for a very good cause.
Yesterday I spent five hours on a rain-lashed boat - but had a great time! I'd been booked by French Brothers (http://www.boat-trips.co.uk/) to provide some professional magical entertainment for senior staff from BP. There were balloons, inflatable palm trees, a free bar, a huge buffet, a jazz band and, of course, plenty of magic. As the boat headed down the Thames, intermittently raising and lower the roof to get underneath various bridges, I performed a mix of magic, mind-reading, palm-reading and more for all of the guests. I also learnt lots about oil exploration and drilling in the Caspian Sea area. It was a really enjoyable afternoon and I met loads of great people who know how to work hard, play hard and keep hold of their drinks on a swaying boat!
On Saturday I was invited to perform close-up magic and mind-reading at the Wokingham Town Mayor's Charity Dinner held in the Wokingham Town Hall. It was a fantastic event held in support of Crossroads Care and I was delighted to be the Wokingham magician chosen to take part. In between the meal and speeches I mingled with the guests providing some traditional magical entertainment and Derren Brown-style psychological routines.
The guests of honour included John Nike OBE, John Redwood MP, Wokingham's current mayor UllaKarin Clark and the soon-to-be mayor Peter Lucey. I performed magic for most of the guests although I didn't get the chance to show anything to John Redwood himself, maybe the blog post below explains why he was avoiding me! It was a great night and I was even lucky enough to win some posh chocs in the raffle! Many thanks to Nikki Payler for helping to organise such an excellent event and helping such a good cause. Working as a professional magician requires a mixture of skills. Most important is the ability to amaze and entertain with magic. However you also need a range of specialised business skills in areas such as advertising, marketing, PR and the like. As a result of my activities in these areas the local Chamber of Commerce have taken an interest in my business and I was interviewed in the latest issue of their "Business Voice" magazine. The interview was a lot of fun and included a question about my "biggest mistake in business". You can see the answer below and it possibly explains something in the blog post above!
I was lucky enough to attend the recent opening of the Innovation Indian restaurant in Maidenhead today. This is a fabulous establishment and it is amazingly spacious and luxurious inside. The food is superb and with the opening of the upper two floors it will be the perfect wedding and party venue. You can find out more by visiting their website - www.innovationsl6.com.
I spent a couple of hours performing magic, mind-reading and the occasional palm reading to a very happy and well-fed crowd of diners and VIPs. If you are in Maidenhead and fancy a real treat then this is definitely the place to go and hopefully I will be back there performing close-up magic round the tables again in the near future. Today I had the pleasure of performing some magic for the current Home Secretary Theresa May. She was a delight to talk to and enjoyed some of my close-up magical routines. Here are a few pictures including one of the card she chose and what she wrote on it - before it disappeared from the card box and reappeared inside my wallet!
I spend most of my time presenting a mixture of close-up magic and mind-reading. However I also perform palm readings and recently this has become a very popular sideline. I have done more than thirty readings over the last few days and had some great responses.
During a reading I mix the traditional meanings of the lines on the hand with my own interpretations and techniques. The main lines (head line, heart line, life life and fate line) reveal a lot about a person and, combined with other features such as finger length and palm shape, allow a suprisingly accurate reading to be made. It would be easy to tell someone all about their future because they couldn't know if you were right or not. So I start by talking about a person's past. Their characteristics, preferences, feelings and events from their life so far. Only then, once they have realised the power of a good palm reading, would I start to look into their future. If you would like something a bit special and different at your next party or event then get in touch and book a professional magician who is also a talented palm reader! On Monday I performed a couple of hours of magic at the Waterloo Hotel in Crowthorne for Broag-Remeha. The event was a retirement party and they decided that booking a professional magician would be the ideal way to keep everyone entertained. I spent the time mainly focused on card magic around the tables inbetween the speeches and presentations. It was a lively, fun and quite touching evening with some great anecdotes told and heart-felt comments made. A great evening and thanks to everyone who told me more than I ever really wanted to know about the world of commercial boilers!
On Sunday I took part in the first ever wedding fair at the superb Brooklands Hotel, right next to Mercedes-Benz World in Weybridge. It was an excellently organised event and the place was crowded with visitors throughout the day. Lots of exhibitors including a rodeo bull ride for those couple who would like their wedding to be a little bit different! I spent the day demonstrating my own special brand of wedding magic, mixed with some Derren Brown mind-reading and lots of palm reading. The time flew by and many people were interested in seeing what a magician for hire could do for them. A great day and I'm hoping to appear back at the Brooklands Hotel again soon.
