<![CDATA[Magician for Hire | Wedding Magician | Party Magician | Berkshire | Mike Stoner Entertainment | Surrey, London, South East England | - News/Blog]]>Sat, 19 May 2012 11:58:45 -0800Weebly<![CDATA[Magician for hire - keeping busy!]]>Mon, 14 May 2012 05:22:28 -0800http://www.magician-4-hire.co.uk/1/post/2012/05/magician-for-hire-keeping-busy.htmlThings have been really busy recently - in the four weeks since the last blog entry I've performed at six weddings, four parties, holidayed in Bournemouth and the Cotswolds, been back doing magic at Heathrow and visited the Magic Circle HQ in London.  It was a particular pleasure to appear at a school's Spring Ball and entertain the students and staff, their dining hall was like something out of Harry Potter!  It's always good to be doing magic at Heathrow, didn't spot any celebs this time but I'm back there on Friday (18th May) so you never know who might be there then.  Thanks to everyone who invited me to entertain at their wedding and despite the terrible weather we've been having recently a good time was had by all.  If you have a wedding or party coming up then it's worth booking soon, my diary for the rest of 2012 is pretty full and dates in 2013 are starting to go too!
]]><![CDATA[Wedding Magician - Debenhams Wedding Fair]]>Sun, 15 Apr 2012 14:57:52 -0800http://www.magician-4-hire.co.uk/1/post/2012/04/wedding-magician-debenhams-wedding-fair.htmlWell this was a bit different.  Most of the wedding fairs that I attend are held in stately homes, hotels or National Trust properties - but this one was being held by Debenhams in Reading to promote their excellent wedding services (http://www.debenhams.com/weddings).

I set up a stand and spent a few hours amazing shoppers with some magic and mind-reading - not something they were expecting to happen when out shopping in town!  It was a great day and I thoroughly enjoyed brightening up everyone's day with the magic and chatting with the other wedding exhibitors.]]><![CDATA[Wedding Magician - Stuart and Kim's Wedding]]>Sun, 15 Apr 2012 14:43:12 -0800http://www.magician-4-hire.co.uk/1/post/2012/04/wedding-magician-stuart-and-kims-wedding.htmlOn Saturday I spent the afternoon entertaining at Stuart and Kim's wedding reception at Warbrook House in Eversley.  As with all De Vere hotels this is an excellent wedding venue and is highly recommended if you live in the area.  The staff couldn't have been more helpful and the food/drink was superb.

As the guests arrived I mingled performing magic and making balloon treats for the youngsters.  Some close-up magic is a great way to add something special to your wedding day and keep the guests happy throughout, especially if the photos take quite a while and the weather starts to get a bit cold!

It was the day of the Grand National so everything stopped for a few minutes while everyone watched the race, made all the more exciting by the photo-finish.

All in all a lovely afternoon with a great crowd of people.  Many congratulations to Stuart and Kim!

]]><![CDATA[Trade Show Magician - O2 London]]>Fri, 23 Mar 2012 06:02:41 -0800http://www.magician-4-hire.co.uk/1/post/2012/03/trade-show-magician-o2-london.htmlI spent Monday at the Business 2012 show at the O2 in London.  I had an appointment with some of the people on the Google stand, but also had the chance to visit other companies and chat to exhibitors.  It was a particular pleasure to meet the guys on the Kyocera stand and the ladies representing the British Library.  A trade show can sometimes be slightly dull so a bit of magic really brightened up the day and got a lot of attention.  There was also a huge film premiere going on nearby (for "Street Dance 2") so there was an interesting mix of suit-and-tie business people and over-excited teenagers in close proximity!

The O2 is a huge place and well worth a visit, especially to contrast how it is now compared to how it was when it was known years ago as the "Millennium Dome", and thanks to my time with the Google team I now know lots about their future Internet plans and forthcoming online products.  A very long tiring but interesting day.
]]><![CDATA[London Party Magician]]>Fri, 23 Mar 2012 05:47:59 -0800http://www.magician-4-hire.co.uk/1/post/2012/03/london-party-magician.htmlLast weekend I was booked to entertain at Erika's party.  This was held at the Haven restaurant in Whetstone, North London.  Everyone was dressed to the nines and on arrival I spent 30 minutes entertaining the youngsters, so that everyone else could relax and have a drink or two.  Then the guests took their places at the tables and I focussed on the adults with a mix of magic and mind-reading.  There was a great atmosphere throughout the evening and quite a few balloon teddybears were made as time went by.  A fantastic party and many thanks to Nicky for organising everything.
]]><![CDATA[Restaurant Magician - Carluccio's in Reading]]>Thu, 15 Mar 2012 06:23:36 -0800http://www.magician-4-hire.co.uk/1/post/2012/03/restaurant-magician-carluccios-in-reading.htmlOn Sunday I entertained customers at Carluccio's Italian restaurant in Forbury Square, Reading.  This was my first time performing here and I pulled out all the stops to amaze everybody.  There were a range of customers in the restaurant so I was constantly adapting the magic to suit - whether for a romantic couple, family group with young children or exhausted shoppers looking for a break from The Oracle.  I also did some magic for Michelle and her friends.  Michelle is looking for a wedding magician and came along to see my performance - it must have gone well as I received a lovely email from her just a few hours later and everything is now booked in for her big day later in the year.

Many thanks to Marcos for arranging the event and I will be back at Carluccio's again on Sunday 1st April.

]]><![CDATA[Corporate Event Magician - Crown Relocations]]>Mon, 05 Mar 2012 07:38:07 -0800http://www.magician-4-hire.co.uk/1/post/2012/03/corporate-event-magician-crown-relocations.htmlWell this was a bit different - on Monday I drove to South Ruislip to entertain at the opening of a new warehouse!  Crown Relocations have built a huge new facility and wanted to celebrate the event.  There was food, drink, a balloon modeller, a bagpiper and myself doing the magic.  The warehouse was HUGE and reminded me of the scene at the end of "Raiders of the Lost Ark".  The only problem was the weather, it was freezing and a warehouse isn't warm at the best of times, but we all made the best of it was some great entertainment, a couple of speeches and the official ribbon-cutting to open the warehouse for use.  Thanks to Denise for organising such a great event.
